Student behavior health protocols
El Camino Real Charter High School (“ECR”) is committed to supporting the behavioral health and overall well‑being of all students. Our referral protocols ensure that students in grades 9–12 have equitable access to timely, culturally responsive, and evidence‑based behavioral health supports.
ECR complies with all state and federal student privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
High‑Risk Student Groups
ECR provides targeted support for student groups who may face increased behavioral health risks, including:
-
Students with disabilities, mental illness, or substance use disorders
-
Foster youth and students in out‑of‑home placements
-
Homeless youth
-
Students experiencing grief or bereavement
-
Students with behavioral health concerns, including psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders
-
LGBTQ+ students
-
Additional groups identified through local data (e.g., English learners, recently immigrated students)
Support is coordinated by ECR mental and behavioral health staff in collaboration with the Administrative Director of Special Education, Foster Youth Liaison, Homeless Liaison, and school administrators.
