AVID at El Camino Real Charter High School

 

AVID is the nation's largest college preparatory program. ECR's AVID Program is a 4-year learning program that connects students with tools for college readiness and a supportive peer community. AVID students excel due to the high expectations they set for themselves, while supported by a devoted team of teachers who encourage academic rigor and active participation in ECR life.

 

AVID students:

  • have regular access to well-trained tutors
  • learn from teachers devoted to student achievement and access to 4-year colleges
  • receive the skill foundation to take the most challenging high school courses
  • use college application tools and are connected to scholarship opportunities
  • have learning experiences beyond the classroom and learn from mentor speakers
  • benefit from inquiry-based learning, which helps them ask questions to develop solutions
  • regularly use technology and develop 21st-century skills (e.g., collaboration, media literacy)
  • volunteer together and connect learning with community challenges
