Broadcast Journalism at ECR
Our Broadcast Journalism program offers students both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of broadcast media. From writing compelling stories to producing engaging video segments, students will gain a comprehensive skill set that prepares them for success in modern media.
What We Cover:
- Writing: Master the art of news writing, sports writing, and storytelling.
- Production: Learn essential techniques in camera operation, teleprompting, script writing, editing, and creating professional news packages.
- On-Air Experience: Develop announcing skills and production techniques for live broadcasts.
- Ethics: Explore ethics in journalism and media criticism to understand the responsibility that comes with media production.
- Interviewing: Sharpen your interviewing techniques to ask the right questions and engage your audience.
- Additional Skills: Gain expertise in digital literacy, research, problem-solving, objectivity, and logical reasoning—key qualities for any journalist.
Students in our program produce the El Camino Real Royal News segments, covering school events, sports, news, and more. These productions are shared with the school community through our website and in classrooms, showcasing the talents and hard work of our student journalists.
